Forge City Works
Forge City Works is a non-profit organization that has been working in Hartford since 2007, using the power of food to transform lives and our community.
OUR MISSION: We provide job training and food access through sustainable social enterprises, empowering people to improve their lives.
OUR VISION: Eliminating barriers through the power of food.
OUR "BIG BET": "Empowering people to overcome barriers and creating neighborhood economic development is a catalyst for breaking cycles of poverty and homelessness and to people realizing economic opportunities."
OUR STRATEGY: We work with people with significant barriers to employment and help them overcome those barriers. These barriers can include past justice system involvement, the experience of or risk of homelessness, addiction, mental health challenges, disengagment, trauma, and other systemic and personal barriers. Upon completion of the program, trainees are eligible for ongoing transitional employment, internships (at FxF), externships, apprenticeships, and job placements.
